How was LawDRILL.NET™ conceived?
LawDRILL.NET™ was developed for in-house-use by the law firm of Greenberg Traurig
– a top 25 firm – based upon several years of feedback and experience with Windows-based
systems. Under the previous name of "Weblook", so much interest was generated from
other firms that a decision was made to form the subsidiary named Taladro Systems,
LLP to re-sell the software to other law firms.
The current version of LawDRILL.NET™ was re-written with the Microsoft .NET framework
and is faster and more flexible than ever.
What is meant by "designed by Attorneys"? Why is this important?
Sometimes it becomes very difficult for "vendors" to constantly be in-touch with
the Attorneys for which they design software. Taladro Systems has the advantage
of having programmers that work hand-in-hand with Attorneys to be able to create
programs that are precisely what they are looking for. LawDRILL.NET™ proves to be
exactly that and Attorneys are presented with an environment and data that are just
what they want to see to run their practice.
Attorneys do not want to go "fishing" for data. They want the computer to anticipate
what they need and display the information for them. LawDRILL.NET™ was painstakingly
designed to minimize the "clicks" that Attorneys will have. It retains what someone
is most interested in (based upon what they had previously done) as well as the
security rights in the system to present a desktop that contains all the data that
people are looking for.
How does LawDRILL.NET™ achieve its speed?
Speed is of utmost importance with an interactive system such as LawDRILL.NET™.
If it's too slow people will simply not use it. LawDRILL.NET™ uses a technique of
rebuilding tables with key numbers at designated times that act as the summary data
for the major screens. This unique process actually has a patent pending for its
design. At various points, users can "drill" into the live CMS data. Graphing speed
is also achieved via a module called Dundas. The HTML rendering speed is achieved
with the Microsoft ".NET" Server.
Can LawDRILL.NET™ limit what the average user sees?
Yes. LawDRILL.NET™ has a full security model at both the timekeeper and client/matter
levels. A concept of proxy for secretaries to act on behalf of their timekeeper
is also supported.
What's involved with installing LawDRILL.NET™?
Very simple: 1)Designate a server, configure and install LawDRILL.NET™ code, 2)Set
up security for LawDRILL.NET™ 3) Run stored procedures 4) Connect to LawDRILL.NET™
server with a browser such as IE to start using it! Of course, we will do all of
this for you when you purchase LawDRILL.NET™ and it is included in the purchase
price.
How are the bills shown in PDF format if my firm uses MS Word
to create bills?
Installed in conjunction with LawDRILL.NET™ are routines to copy (or move) selected
bills from all offices that generate bills to a central storage area. A program
called "Adlib Express" is used to convert the files en-mass to PDF format. This
conversion must take place to allow the bills to be collected into a single repository
– but also, we have found that PDF is the only solution for a bill repository so
that we can achieve a read-only status as well as speed.
How much training is required for LawDRILL.NET™?
No training is required. The question and the challenge usually is one of "marketing".
Getting people to know what LawDRILL.NET™ can do and get them to use it is the main
challenge. Once they are in, training is not required. Most firms adopt seminars
to introduce some of the less obvious ideas.
What are the hardware and software requirements for LawDRILL.NET™?
All that is required is a small server that sits beside your accounting system server.
That server will run Windows 2000 Server, IIS and the .NET Framework. We will also
load "Adlib Express" so that we can use one server to house all the bill files in
PDF format.
What is the cost?
LawDRILL.NET™ is priced according the new number of Attorneys at a firm. You can
use it for as many offices and with as many people as you like. Pricing ranges from
$180 per Attorney for small firms to as little as $80 per Attorney for the largest
firms.
